Summer Festival

summer festivalThe Summer Festival of Mount Abu is an annual affair when this sleepy town suddenly transforms into a hotbed of activity. Summers are hot in Rajasthan, but Mount Abu with its picturesque settings and cool weather is the perfect place to host this 3-day festival that is a major draw for tourists from all over the world. The Summer Festival kicks off with the singing of a soulful ballad after which colorfully dressed folk artists and performers take over the proceedings. It is indeed a very colorful sight, which is sure to dazzle the eyes of any bystander.

A variety of sporting events that include an exciting boat race on the Nakki Lake and a roller skating race add more color to the event. However the highlight of the Summer Festival is the Sham-e-Qawwali, a musical extravaganza that boasts of some of the best Qawwals (singers) from all overthe state. As the evening progresses the festivities reach their zenith before culminating in a grand display of fireworks that enthrall the audience like never before.
